Let’s not lie, we’ve all lapsed slightly over lockdown. And dating? What even is dating? Hitching up through Hinge has become a thing of the past. But now, as the world slowly comes back to life, we wait with bated breath, fingers poised above our dating apps, itching to match. But ideally, we want to stroll sassily back into the dating scene, with complete confidence in our post-lockdown look; for many people, the key to this confidence is getting back into the fitness game.
But where’s open in London – and what will your new workout look like?
Tryoga Yoga Studio. 372 King’s Road, London, SW3 5UZ
From July 30th, Triyoga (which has venues spanning across Camden, Chelsea, Ealing, Shoreditch and Soho) will open its doors. And if you’re looking to be suitably zen for your date, this is definitely the place for you; Triyoga hosts highly popular Yoga and Pilates classes. What’s more, the website clearly lists the different styles of Yoga each class offers, from ‘Dynamic’ to ‘Relaxing & Therapeutic’, from ‘Hot Yoga’ to ‘Yoga for Beginners’. Triyoga’s aim is to offer an array of different classes and authentic teaching styles, so – somewhat akin to the dating world – you can find your perfect match! It is also clearly stated on their website what you should expect when venturing into their recently reopened venue:
These guidelines give a good gist of what all fitness classes should be like, henceforth. Time to get both your mat and your mask at the ready!
1Rebel Victoria. Nova South building, 5 Allington Ave, London SW1E 5BX
1Rebel, ‘King of Gyms’, is another fitness studio which has centres across Central London (from Victoria to Angel) – and is open now! Their website is easy to navigate; there is a very clear booking system, which allows you to book which type of class you want, with whichever trainer you’d prefer. For those of us who are frantic to get a full body workout fix (especially before that big date on Saturday night!), 1Rebel is ideal; there are an array of sessions to choose from, all of which target a specific area or skill. Legs, bums and tums – here we come!
FLY LND. 24 Creechurch lane, London, EC3A 5EH
The doors of FLY LDN, Creechurch Lane, flew open on July 29th, after they rigorously ensured that their studios were 100% ‘COVID-secure’. The majority of these precautions echo the aforementioned regulations at Triyoga – bar FLY LDN’s specific request that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your session, in order to allow time to familiarise yourself with their new safety protocols. If you are, indeed, a newcomer to FLYLDN; most excitingly, it is known as “the city’s immersive yoga studio”. With its promised multi-sensory experience of their fitness classes, consisting of cinematic visuals and surround-sound playlists, FLYLDN provides the ultimate escape from the chaotic rush of London life.
The Lodge Space. 120a Lower Rd, London SE16 2UB
This beautiful venue, overlooking Southwark Park, has so much to offer. Their three spacious fitness studio spaces offer sessions ranging from intense, specifically targeted fitness classes to aerial yoga and a variety of different dance classes. Additionally, their adjacent cafe boasts a menu of nutritious, healthy food – ideal for a post-workout snack. And if you’re looking for that pre-date glow, the venue also has two private treatment rooms, where you can enjoy the luxury of the latest holistic therapies and massages. Be sure to check out the array of activities on offer at The Lodge Space if you fancy it – it’s been fully open since Monday 27th July! Happy workouts all round!
